MADISON, Wis. -- After a season in which it eclipsed 13 wins for the first time in nearly two decades, the University of Wisconsin men’s soccer team enters the 2013 Big Ten Tournament as the No. 2 seed.
Concluding the regular-season with a 4-2-0 conference mark, Wisconsin will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to battle seventh-seeded Northwestern on Wed., Nov. 13, in the tournament’s final quarterfinal match at 6 p.m. CT.
The Badgers own a 2-2-1 record in their last five match-ups with the Wildcats, including a 1-0 win in Evanston on Nov. 3.
Wisconsin will meet Northwestern on neutral soil for just the seventh time, as UW owns a 5-2-0 mark in neutral site contests against the Wildcats.
This is just the fifth time in the 21-year history of the Big Ten men’s soccer tournament that the Badgers have earned a two-seed or better. The last time UW entered the tournament as the second seed, they went on to appear in the 1993 Big Ten Tournament championship.
The top-seeded Penn State Nittany Lions will face the winner of the Michigan-Indiana matchup at 11 a.m. CT in Friday’s first semifinal game. The second semifinal game will begin at 1:30 p.m. CT, while the championship match will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
BTN will stream the quarterfinals live on the Big Ten Digital Network, while the semifinals and finals will be available live on both BTN and BTN2Go.
The tournament will be hosted by the Ohio State University. The tournament champion will automatically earn a bid to the 2013 NCAA Championships.
