Divers complete day one at NCAA Zone D Championships

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin diving teams have finished day        one of competition at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Austin, Texas. Sophomore Michael        Ross competed on the 1-meter board in the men's portion, while sophomore Roxanne        Fitter and senior Ciara        Rinaudo started the women's competition on the 3-meter board.
        
         Ross was the only Badger to qualify for the finals Friday. His score of 321.35 in the        preliminary round, good for a seventh-place finish, is his highest among all non-dual meet        events this season and second highest overall.
        
        The sophomore went on to finish ninth in the 1-meter board finals with a combined score of        630.20.
        
        Despite not moving on to the finals, both women's divers placed in the top 25 in the        preliminaries on the 3-meter board.
        
         Fitter finished with a score of 270.70, good for 19th place, while Rinaudo scored 258.75,        good for 24th place.
        
        The NCAA Zone D Diving Championships continue Saturday with the women's 1-meter competition        and the men's 3-meter competition.
