MADISON, Wis. – Senior All-American Maggie Meyer was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for the sixth time in her career after winning three of four events she swam in during last weekend’s dual meet at Arizona, the conference announced Tuesday.
Meyer finished the night with NCAA ‘B’ qualifying times in two individual events and one relay. She remained undefeated on the season in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events, sweeping the competition with times of 54.36 and 1:58.72, respectively. She also swam in the Badgers’ winning 400-yard medley relay (3:40.13) and helped Wisconsin finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:33.24).
After five weeks of competition, the Wisconsin women’s swimming team has the highest number of Big Ten Swimmer of the Week recipients in the conference with three. Past recipients this season are freshman Rebecka Palm (Nov. 2) and junior Ashley Wanland (Oct. 19).
The Badgers next compete at home in a dual meet against Northwestern on Thursday night. The action starts at 5 p.m. at the UW Natatorium.
