
Cooke named CRCA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year

First-year Wisconsin assistant women's rowing coach staffid=1044"> --> Megan Cooke has been chosen the 2009 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Central Regional Coach of the Year, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Assistant Coach of the Year award is designed to recognize an assistant coach or associate head coach who meets one or more of the following criteria: Outstanding commitment to his/her program, made a significant impact on the success of his/her program and demonstrated a high level of professionalism and integrity as a coach.
staffid=1044"> --> Cooke , who is in her first year at Wisconsin, directed the UW novice crews to Big Ten titles in the novice eight and second novice eight events. The novice eight also took first in the NCAA Central Regional and second at the NCAA Central/South Regional regatta.
Cooke is now eligible to win the National Assistant Coach of the Year Award, which will be voted on in June.
The ninth-ranked Wisconsin women's openweight rowing program competes this Friday through Sunday, May 29-31 at the 2009 NCAA Rowing Champoionships on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
