Recap |  Box Score

Coaches Quotes:

On the goal by Ben 11 seconds after UAA scored the first goal as key to the game:

"That was the game in a nutshell. Those two critical goals were the turning points.  The goal by Craig Smith to create a two-goal lead was again very important. Those were two critical moments in the game that people just looking at the box score won't see."

On defensive effort of Ryan McDonagh:
"Only giving up 13 shots, Ryan led the parade in that area. He is so strong and nobody got near our goalie. The other thing he did so well was the outlet passes, getting the puck out of our zone. Ryan leads the parade in what our defense did this weekend. He didn't give up a lot of shots."

Comparison from tonight to play last night:
"The biggest difference was the control in which we played. For 60 minutes we did more of the things we wanted to. There were moments last night that we were excellent, but there were moments when we were off the page and not doing what we wanted. But tonight we were more consistent at doing the things we wanted."

On new guys contributing tonight:
"It's starting to come. Our top-end defensive guys have had their chances. Good things are up and coming and we saw a little glimpse of that tonight."

Anything wrong with powerplay:
"The first unit is a little frustrated because things haven't gone as well. As a result we are trying to press. We're forcing issues. On the other side, I really like the other group. They did some great things. The first unit struggled and was anemic. The second unit is coming together and getting better as we go along."

On importance on closing out home stand with a sweep:
"It's pretty important. The message before the game was to focus on the process, not to focus on the result. We did that for the most part but to get the "W" really gives us confidence on the road. We'll be able to carry that on."

UW Players:
To Ben: On Guys starting to produce:
Ben Street: "One of the biggest things is that we have roles from so many different guys, so many different lines. Everyone is starting to click right now, chemistry is starting to build. Lots of pucks are going in the net for us. That's a good sign."

To Scott Gudmandson: On only facing 13 shots:
Scott: "It's mentally tough on you. You have to stay mentally tough the whole time and I think I need to do a little bit better job of doing that."

Scott: What makes defense in front of you so good?
Scott: "They are just so steady. Everybody on the ice is contributing and if one person messes up the other guys are there to back them up. One thing we do really well is block a lot of shots and that makes it easier on me."

Craig Smith: On building confidence:
Craig: "I give a lot of credit to my linemates. They create opportunities for me. It felt great to score again tonight and hopefully I continue to produce."

Ben Street: On scoring 11 seconds after UAA took the lead:
Ben: "What we talked about on the bench is just having a good response. After they score just try to take their momentum away. Trying to get a quick goal is even better. We don't want to let that get us off our game. We were pretty good until that point. They got a goal and we kept going and stuck with it. It was nice to get a goal right away."
