No. 13 Wisconsin races at the 2008 NCAA Rowing Championships from Friday to Sunday in Rancho Cordova, Calif., and you can follow along with the action at UWBADGERS.COM.
The Badgers will make their fifth appearance since the event began in 1997 and their fourth in the last five seasons. Wisconsin made three consecutive trips to the 12-team event from 2004-06, but just missed out on a bid last year. The Badgers have returned for the third time in the four-year tenure of head coach Bebe Bryans.
Two years ago, Wisconsin won a bronze medal in the second varsity eight and the team finished eighth to set the program standard. The Badgers hope to improve on that finish this year.
The Badgers will compete with their varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four along with defending champion Brown, as well as California, Harvard, Michigan State, Ohio State, Princeton, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, Washington State and Yale. Four schools ' Clemson, Michigan, Stanford and USC ' will just compete with their varsity eight.
Wisconsin placed fourth at the 2008 NCAA Central/South Regional after taking second at the 2008 Big Ten Championships in early May and continues to improve after getting on the water in Madison for the first time in mid-April.
