Davies and Vavrek Earn Olympic Trial Spots

Phil Davies (Rye, N.Y.) took 23rd place in the C-final of the men's 50-meter freestyle (23.37) at the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships, which earned him a bid to the Olympic Time Trials in 2008.

Fellow Badger swimmer Jackie Vavrek (West Chicago, Ill.) also earned a spot by placing fifth in the women's 50-meter freestyle (25.55).

With the completion of this meet, five current Wisconsin swimmers and an alumnus are added to the contingent of UW swimmers, bringing the total to 15 Badgers who will compete at the Olympic Time Trials meet next year.
