
Masterson, Kuhn Named Rowing All-Region

Senior rowers Susan Masterson (Madison, Wis.) and Kirsten Kuhn (Hudson, Wis.) were named by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) to the 2007 All-Central Region Teams. The awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers from each of the five Division I regions, organized into first and second-team selections. Masterson was selected to the first team, while Kuhn was named a second-team selection.
Masterson, who was also a second-team All-Big Ten selection, was a member of the UW 's 20th-ranked varsity eight boat throughout the season. A two-time academic All-Big Ten selection, Masterson was also named winner of the UW openweight rowing 2007 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award at the 2007 Big Ten Rowing Championships, held on Lake Wingra in Madison. Masterson's career highlights include a bronze medal in the second varsity eight at the 2006 NCAA Championships.
Kuhn, a three-time academic All-Big Ten selection, rowed all season on the UW varsity eight. Kuhn, who has NCAA championship experience in 2005 with the varsity eight and 2004 with the second varsity eight
Masterson is the 12th Badger named first-team CRCA All-Central region, while Kuhn is the sixth Badger named to the second team since 1999, when the first Badger was honored.
Wisconsin finished its season at the 2007 NCAA Central/South Regional on May 12-13 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Badgers placed 4th overall and second in the NCAA Central region, but failed to earn a four consecutive bid to the NCAA rowing championships.
