
Preseason Rowing Polls Released

The first Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing poll of 2007 was released last week. The Badger openweight eight starts the spring season in the 16th spot. Princeton University claimed the top spot in the preseason coaches' poll, while California-Berkley and Virginia round out the top three.
The Wisconsin women are one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the top-20. Ohio State leads the conference as they are ranked sixth; Minnesota is 13th, Michigan State sits in the 14th spot and Michigan is 15th. The Badgers were only one point behind Michigan for 15th place. Fellow Big Ten school, Iowa, is currently receiving votes.
The first regular season poll will be released on Wednesday, March 28.
Wisconsin opens their spring competition this weekend as the women travel to Bloomington, Ind. to take on the Hoosiers of Indiana University. This is the team 's first competition since last November.
Last spring, the openweights finished eighth at the NCAA championships, earning the team 's highest finish in program history. The Badgers posted a solid performance on the final day as the second varsity eight took third I the grand final and the varsity four placed second in the petite final.
