
Badgers in Fourth After Second Day in Austin

The University of Wisconsin men's and women's swimming and diving        teams competed in the second day of the three-day Texas Invitational held at the Lee and        Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas Friday.
        
Both the men and the women are in fourth place with scores of 242 and 290, respectively. Arizona, who emerged as the leader after Thursday's competition, still leads both the men and women going into Saturday.
During this morning's preliminaries, senior Susan Johnson recorded an NCAA- 'A' time of 53.57 in the 100-yard backstroke. Johnson also recorded an NCAA-'B' time of 54.48 while placing third in the event.
The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Susan Johnson, Rosie Morahan, Jenny Gelden and Jackie Vavrek started the meet off strong for the Badgers as they took fifth place while earning an NCAA-'B' time of 1:41.50.
Morahan, a native of London, England recorded another provisional time when she took 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.48.
In the 400-yard IM two Badgers picked up NCAA-'B' times. Andrea Wiesner (4:19.78) took sixth place and Libby Brooks took ninth with a time of 4:19.22.
The women's 800-yard freestyle relay team also recorded an NCAA-'B        ' time. The team consisting of Jen Illescas, Johnson, Liz Klanderman and Rosie        Morahan clocked a time of 7:22.88 while earning third place.
        
        On the men's side the 200-yard medley relay team of Jeff Wurm, Eric Johnson, Scott Rice        and Kyle Sorensen took fifth (1:30.45). The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Tom Molzahn,        Mike Desautels, Kyle Sorensen and Scott Rice placed fourth (6:39.32).
The Texas Invitational will conclude tomorrow with the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay and the men's and women's platform.
