November 10, 2006 | Men's Hockey
The University of Wisconsin men's hockey team (4-5-2, 3-3-1 WCHA) fell 2-0 to Denver University Friday night at the Kohl Center. The Badgers welcomed the return of senior Ross Carlson who had missed seven games due to injury.
The Badgers and Pioneers skated to a 0-0 tie after the first two periods behind solid play from both goalies. UW's Brian Elliott (Newmarket, Ontario) stopped 30 shots on the night, while Denver's Glenn Fisher earned the shutout stopping 27 shots.
The third period belonged to Denver as Michael Handza scored the game-winner just over two minutes into the period and Brock Trotter added DU's second at the 17:15 mark.
Captain Andrew Joudrey (Bedford, Nova Scotia) led the offense with six shots on goal, including three during the power play.
The loss gives Denver their fourth-straight win at the Kohl Center, the longest of any UW opponent. The Badgers finished 0-for-5 on the power play, while Denver was 0-for-6.
The Badgers and Pioneers face-off again Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Kohl Center.
