UW Women Compete at Princeton Chase
October 29, 2006 | Women's Rowing
The University of Wisconsin women's openweight team competed at the Princeton Chase Sunday in Princeton, N.J.
The winds were very rough in Princeton, resulting in the cancellation of the pairs and fours races. However, the eights still raced, where UW boats finished seventh and 10th. The Wisconsin `A' boat finished in seventh with a time of 16:37.62, while the `B ' boat clocked in at 16:44.74 good enough for 10th.
Virginia's 'A' boat won the event with the time of 15:50.93. Yale `A', Princeton `A', Virginia `C' and Brown `A' round out the top five.
'The Princeton chase ended up being exactly what we traveled out here for. Even though our smaller boats couldn't race, we were still able to accomplish a lot, ' said head coach Bebe Bryans. 'I was very pleased by the way the women attacked the course and the not so favorable conditions today. It was almost like a restart for us, I think the team got a lot closer together battling today."
The Badger women row next on Sunday Nov. 12 as they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to compete at the Rivanna Romp.
