Eric Hansen, the University of Wisconsin head coach for men's and women 's swimming, has reconfirmed his commitment to the Badger programs.
Hansen, who interviewed last week for the head women's swimming position at Stanford, told UW administrators Monday that he is staying at Wisconsin.
'My staff has put a lot of effort into developing outstanding intercollegiate programs for both the women and men at Wisconsin, and we 've got more work on the horizon,' said Hansen. 'On a personal basis, I really enjoy the quality of life in Madison. On a professional level, I appreciate the administration's commitment to building a competitive natatorium for our teams in the future.'
Hansen, who is completing his sixth year at Wisconsin, led his women 's and men's teams to 11th- and 19th-place, respectively, at the 2005 NCAA Championships. The women's finish was tied for the second-best in school history and the men placed in the top 20 for the fifth season in a row.
In his tenure at UW, Hansen has coached 18 Big Ten champions (14 women, four men), 32 All-Americans (19 women, 13 men) and two Olympians (gold medalist Carly Piper and Adam Mania).
