Olympic Parade Continues
December 22, 2005 | Men's Hockey
Dany Heatley became the third former Badger men's hockey standout named to an Olympic team when Canada announced its roster on Wednesday. The 2006 Olympic Winter Games take place Feb. 10-26 in Torino, Italy.
Heatley will make his first Olympic appearance and joins three former Badgers, Curtis Joseph, Pat Flatley and Bruce Driver, who have played for Team Canada in the past.
A member of the NHL's Ottawa Senators, Heatley sits tied for fourth in the league with 47 points. At the start of this season, Heatley went 22 games with a point, falling one short of the NHL record-long point streak with a new team held by NHL-legend Wayne Gretzky, while setting the franchise overall point-scoring streak record.
Heatley will be skating for the defending Olympic gold medalists and the heavy favorites entering the games.
Monday, two other former Badgers, defensemen Chris Chelios and Brian Rafalski, were named to Team USA.
