Badgers Fall to Wildcats, 125-99

The Wisconsin men's swimming and diving team was defeated by Northwestern 125-99 on Thursday in a dual meet at the UW Natatorium. Junior captain Tom Molzahn led the Badgers with a first-place and two second-place finishes.
Molzahn won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4.34:59 and took second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.33. The Barrington, Ill., native was joined by teammates Kyle Sorenson, Scott Rice, and Mike Desautels for a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.26.
'I wanted to swim better then we did last week,' head coach Eric Hansen said, 'and I think for the most part, we did.'
Scott Rice was victorious the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:51.32. Teammate Kyle Sorensen earned a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.40, and Mike Hopkins finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.65).
Matt Grevers and Mike Alexandrov earned two first-places apiece en route to the 13th-ranked Wildcats winning nine events.
Sophomore diver Josh Bonner finished second on the 3-meter board and third on the 1-meter board to lead the Wisconsin divers.
'I saw glimpses of Josh today that we've been waiting to see for the last year and a half,' diving coach Josh Seykora said.
Wisconsin returns to action Nov. 18-20 in the Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis.
