Men's Swimmers Splash Iowa

The men's swimming and diving team defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes, 161-116, in the Badgers' home and Big Ten opener at the UW Natatorium Friday night. The Badgers took first place in 11 out of 16 events, improving to 2-0 overall, 1-0 Big Ten.
Sophomore Dale Rogers (Oroville, Calif.) picked up two wins for the Badgers, grabbing the top spot in the 50 and 100 freestyle (21.11, 45.88). Freshman Adam Mania (Hickman, Neb.) won the 100-yard back (51.12) and classmate Tim Liebhold (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished second in the event (52.35).
Sophomore Pat Torpey (Mentor, Ohio) was the victor in the 200 fly (1:52.09) and registered the top time in the 500 free (4:41.46).
In relay action, Bucky took No. 1 and No. 2 in the 400 medley relay to start off the meet. Wisconsin closed the meet with a win in the 400 free relay (3:03.38).
Wisconsin next hits the water Nov. 2 at the Arizona Triangular in Tucson, Ariz.
